A very low 'K18, 500 fine for Pick n’ Pay in Zambia

The Lusaka Fast Track Court has fined Pick N’ Pay K18, 500 for selling expired food stuffs.
This is according to a press statement issued to Mwebantu by LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Brenda Katongola.

Ms. Katongola says during judgement passed in Lusaka yesterday by Judge Brian Simachela, Pick N’ Pay was found guilty of selling red apple flavoured soft drinks 2 litres x 13 and ginger beer flavoured soft drinks 2 litres x 8.
“In a case involving Pick N’ Pay vs Lusaka City Council and the people, Justice Simachela asked Pick N’ Pay to pay K18, 500 within 48 hours after the retail outlet pleaded guilty of the charge. Lusaka City Council has since warned food and retail outlets to adhere to the relevant Acts of the Laws of Zambia; among them the Local Government Act Cap 281, the Food and Drugs Act (Cap. 303) Legislation 2006 (1972).” Ms Katongola said.
